Orlando Health Heart Institute Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Group Introduce

For individuals in the Orlando, Florida area seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me" specializing in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, the Orlando Health Heart Institute Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Group, located at 1222 S Orange Ave 4th Fl, Orlando, FL 32806, USA, is an option to consider. However, it is crucial to carefully review recent patient experiences to gain a comprehensive understanding of the care provided at this facility.

The Orlando Health Heart Institute is part of the larger Orlando Health network, a well-established healthcare system in Central Florida. This specific group focuses on surgical interventions for conditions affecting the heart, lungs, and other thoracic organs. Potential patients seeking surgical solutions for complex cardiovascular or thoracic issues may consider this group for their needs.

Information regarding the environment of the Orlando Health Heart Institute Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Group is not detailed in the provided reviews. However, as part of a larger medical institute, it can be anticipated that the facility is equipped with the necessary medical infrastructure to support cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures and consultations.

The services offered by this group would primarily involve surgical treatments for a range of cardiac and thoracic conditions. Cardiovascular surgery addresses diseases of the heart and blood vessels, potentially including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair or replacement, heart transplantation, and surgery for congenital heart defects. Thoracic surgery focuses on the lungs, esophagus, and other organs within the chest, potentially including lung resection for cancer, surgery for esophageal disorders, and chest wall procedures. Given the name of the group, a comprehensive array of both cardiovascular and thoracic surgical interventions is likely provided.

The features of this medical group would include the expertise of the surgeons and medical staff specializing in these complex surgical fields. Being part of the Orlando Health Heart Institute suggests access to advanced surgical techniques and technologies. However, the patient reviews provide critical insights into the patient experience that should be carefully considered.

One patient expressed dissatisfaction with Dr. Potts, stating that instead of thoroughly investigating the cause of a low heart rate, the doctor allegedly attributed it to a relapse of alcohol use. The patient also reported that their suggestion of needing a heart monitor was seemingly overlooked initially and that a physical examination of swollen ankles was not conducted. This review raises concerns about the thoroughness of the diagnostic process and the doctor's approach to understanding the patient's symptoms.

A particularly concerning and lengthy review details a severely negative experience with a Dr. Hazday, identified as a "HOCM specialist." The patient alleges being "gaslighted" and having their symptoms dismissed as "hysteria" and anxiety, despite multiple emergency room visits for dangerously low heart rates and blood pressure. The review claims that the doctor discouraged seeking a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic and attributed serious physical symptoms to psychological issues. The patient reports a significant decline in their quality of life and increased heart damage, ultimately leading to the termination of the doctor-patient relationship and a return to the Mayo Clinic for what they perceived as appropriate care. This review strongly suggests a lack of adequate medical attention and a dismissive attitude towards the patient's reported symptoms.

The same reviewer questions the "Center of Excellence" designation, implying it might be related to financial contributions rather than solely based on the quality of care. They strongly advise potential patients to conduct thorough research and even recommend seeking care at the South Florida Cleveland Clinic as an alternative.

Given the gravity of the negative feedback, particularly the detailed account of alleged misdiagnosis and dismissal of serious symptoms in the second review, it is difficult to highlight positive features based solely on this information. The reviews present significant concerns regarding the patient experience and the approach to diagnosis and treatment in at least some cases within this group.

There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Instead, the feedback serves as a cautionary note for individuals considering this group for their cardiovascular or thoracic surgical needs.

For local users in US who may have friends or family in the Orlando, Florida area seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me" for cardiovascular or thoracic surgery, it is essential to share these patient experiences. The provided reviews raise serious concerns about the quality of care and the patient-doctor relationship within this specific group at the Orlando Health Heart Institute. Potential patients should be advised to seek additional opinions and conduct thorough research before making a decision about their healthcare.

In conclusion, while the Orlando Health Heart Institute Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Group offers surgical services for heart and chest conditions in Orlando, FL, the recent patient reviews present significant concerns. One review suggests a lack of thoroughness in diagnosis, while another details a deeply troubling experience of alleged misdiagnosis, dismissal of severe symptoms, and a decline in the patient's health. Potential patients should carefully consider this feedback, conduct thorough research, and potentially seek multiple opinions before entrusting their care to this group.

I like Dr. Potts but instead of getting to the root of my low HR, he blamed it on my relapse of alcohol that was 2 times since I’ve seen him. I mentioned that I might need a heart monitor and that was not even what he was going to prescribe until I think he remembered that I worked in Chicago for cardiology for 20 years. He didn’t even check my my swollen ankles that I’ve had for almost a month. He obviously predetermined my problem before even checking me out.

I have been coming here since 2012. Never had an issue with any of my nurses or doctors. I love this place and they have taken good care of me.
