Mary Bridge Children's Cardiology Introduce
Are you seeking specialized cardiac care for your child with a heart condition? Under the platform category "Heart Doctor Near Me," we are introducing Mary Bridge Children's Cardiology, located at 603 S J St #102, Tacoma, WA 98405, USA. This clinic focuses on providing comprehensive cardiac services for infants, children, and adolescents with various heart conditions, ranging from congenital heart defects to acquired heart diseases.
Based on a positive customer review, the environment at Mary Bridge Children's Cardiology is described as "very inviting for young children." This suggests that the clinic is designed to be child-friendly, likely with decor, waiting areas, and examination rooms that are less intimidating and more appealing to young patients. Creating a comfortable and reassuring atmosphere is particularly important in pediatric healthcare settings to help children and their families feel at ease during what can be a stressful time. The professional and kind demeanor of the staff, including Dr. Sandeep (mentioned in the review), further contributes to a positive experience for both the child and the accompanying adult.
Mary Bridge Children's Cardiology likely offers a range of specialized services tailored to the unique needs of pediatric patients with heart conditions. These services typically include:
- Diagnosis of Congenital Heart Defects: Comprehensive evaluation and diagnosis of heart abnormalities present at birth, utilizing advanced imaging techniques such as echocardiography, ECG, and potentially MRI or CT scans.
- Management of Acquired Heart Diseases: Diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions that develop after birth, such as Kawasaki disease, rheumatic fever, and myocarditis.
- Fetal Cardiology Consultations: Evaluation of heart abnormalities detected in unborn babies and counseling for expectant parents.
- Outpatient Clinic Visits: Regular check-ups and management of chronic heart conditions in children.
- Echocardiography: Specialized ultrasound imaging of the heart tailored for pediatric patients.
- Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG): Recording the electrical activity of the heart to detect rhythm abnormalities and other cardiac issues.
- Exercise Stress Testing: Assessing the heart's function during physical activity in older children and adolescents.
- Holter and Event Monitoring: Continuous or intermittent monitoring of the heart's electrical activity over extended periods.
- Cardiac Catheterization: Diagnostic and interventional procedures involving the insertion of thin tubes into the heart and blood vessels.
- Pre- and Post-Surgical Care: Management of patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
- Long-Term Follow-Up Care: Monitoring and management of children with repaired or unrepairable heart conditions as they grow.
- Family Support and Education: Providing resources and guidance to families navigating the challenges of caring for a child with heart disease.
A significant feature highlighted in a positive review is the professionalism, kindness, and skill of the staff, particularly Dr. Sandeep, in working with children. This is a crucial aspect of pediatric care, as it can greatly impact a child's comfort level and cooperation during medical examinations and procedures. The ability to create a positive and reassuring experience for young patients is a hallmark of a good pediatric cardiology practice.
However, another customer review presents a serious concern regarding a change in policy related to the age of patients being seen at the clinic. The reviewer, who had been a patient for over 10 years and was assured of continued care into adulthood, was abruptly informed that they were "too old" to be seen, leading to a cancellation of their scheduled annual exam and difficulties in finding timely care with an adult cardiologist. This suggests a recent policy change regarding the age limit for patients, which was reportedly not communicated to patients in advance. Such a lack of communication and disruption of long-term care can be detrimental to patients, especially those with chronic conditions requiring ongoing monitoring.
The negative reviewer strongly recommends seeking care at Seattle Children's Hospital instead, indicating a significant level of dissatisfaction with this policy change and the way it was handled by Mary Bridge Children's Cardiology. This feedback raises a red flag for older adolescents and young adults who have been receiving care at this facility and were expecting a smooth transition into adulthood within the same practice.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided. However, the focus on creating a "very inviting" office for young children can be seen as a way to attract and retain families seeking pediatric cardiac care. The positive feedback regarding the staff's professionalism and kindness also serves as a form of positive promotion, highlighting the patient-centered approach of the clinic.
Given the serious concern raised about the abrupt discontinuation of care for patients transitioning into adulthood and the lack of prior notification, it is crucial for families considering Mary Bridge Children's Cardiology to inquire about their policies regarding the age of patients they treat and the process for transitioning older patients to adult cardiology services. This is particularly important for families with older children or adolescents who may need long-term cardiac care.
For local users in Tacoma and surrounding areas seeking a "Pediatric Cardiologist Near Me," Mary Bridge Children's Cardiology offers a dedicated facility with staff experienced in working with children. The child-friendly environment and positive remarks about the staff's interactions with young patients are definite advantages. However, the reported policy change regarding the age limit for patients and the lack of communication surrounding it are significant issues that potential patients should be aware of and investigate further by contacting the clinic directly at (253) 396-4868 or +1 253-396-4868. When calling, it would be prudent to inquire about their patient age policies, transition protocols for older patients, and any other concerns arising from the recent negative review.
In conclusion, Mary Bridge Children's Cardiology in Tacoma, WA, appears to offer a child-focused environment and professional staff for pediatric cardiac care. However, a recent policy change regarding the age of patients and the way it was communicated has raised serious concerns. Local users seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me" for their children should weigh the positive feedback regarding the child-friendly setting and staff against the reported negative experience with the age-related policy and ensure they have a clear understanding of the clinic's policies regarding long-term care and transitioning to adult cardiology services before entrusting their child's care to this facility.

All the staff and Dr. Sandeep were very professional, kind, and good with children, which made it a positive experience for my child and myself. The office was very inviting for young children. Would definitely recommend!
We received two notifications that our appointment was at 2:00pm and understood that there is a 15 minute grace period. We arrived at 2:04 and was told we were too late and that our appointment was at 1:45pm. I showed the receptionist the notification we received and her response was “I don’t know what that is”. Really disappointing and frustrating.
