The University of Kansas Hospital Cardiology Introduce
For individuals in Kansas City, Kansas, and the surrounding areas searching within the "Heart Doctor Near Me" category, The University of Kansas Hospital Cardiology, located at 4000 Cambridge St, Kansas City, KS 66160, USA, represents a significant academic medical center offering a range of cardiovascular services. As part of a renowned university hospital system, it is expected to provide comprehensive and advanced heart care to the local community.
Situated on the campus of The University of Kansas Medical Center, the cardiology department likely benefits from the resources and expertise associated with a major academic institution. The environment would typically include modern medical facilities, advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, and a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, researchers, and support staff. Patients can anticipate a setting that integrates clinical care with medical education and research, potentially offering access to cutting-edge treatments and clinical trials.
The services offered by The University of Kansas Hospital Cardiology would generally encompass a wide spectrum of cardiac care. This typically includes diagnostic cardiology, such as electrocardiograms (ECG), echocardiograms, stress tests, and cardiac catheterization. Interventional cardiology services, including angioplasty and stenting, as well as electrophysiology studies and procedures for arrhythmias, are also likely to be available. As part of a university hospital, they may also specialize in the management of complex cardiovascular conditions, heart failure, and cardiac transplantation (though this is not explicitly stated).
Given the academic affiliation, a key feature of this cardiology department is likely the presence of highly specialized physicians who are often involved in research and the training of future cardiologists. This can translate to a high level of expertise and a commitment to evidence-based medicine. Patients might also benefit from a collaborative approach involving multiple specialists within the hospital system.
However, it is important to consider recent patient experiences as reflected in online reviews. One patient reported issues with telehealth appointments, including receiving reminders for a canceled appointment and then being informed that the referred doctor did not offer telehealth services. This indicates potential administrative and communication challenges regarding virtual care options.
The same patient also raised concerns about the cost of certain procedures, specifically mentioning a significantly high charge for an echocardiogram compared to its perceived value and the cost of an office visit. This suggests that patients may want to inquire about the pricing of tests and consultations upfront to understand potential out-of-pocket expenses.
The patient expressed a broader concern that these "lapses in processes" could negatively impact the quality of cardiac care provided. This highlights the importance of efficient administrative functions in ensuring a positive and effective healthcare experience.
Another patient described significant difficulties in scheduling an appointment for a potentially serious irregular heart rhythm. The delay was attributed to waiting for a nurse's input on whether an ultrasound was needed, leading to frustration and the patient's decision to seek care elsewhere. This review raises concerns about appointment accessibility and the efficiency of the scheduling process, particularly for urgent cardiac issues.
Based on this limited information, it is challenging to ascertain specific promotional offers or initiatives from The University of Kansas Hospital Cardiology. As a major medical center, their focus is typically on providing comprehensive care rather than specific promotions in the same way a private practice might.
For local users seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me," The University of Kansas Hospital Cardiology offers the potential benefits of an academic medical center, including access to specialized physicians and advanced technologies. However, recent patient reviews highlight potential challenges related to telehealth communication, the cost of certain procedures, and the efficiency of appointment scheduling. Prospective patients may want to inquire specifically about these aspects when considering their care options.
In conclusion, The University of Kansas Hospital Cardiology in Kansas City, KS, is a significant provider of cardiovascular services within an academic medical setting. While it likely offers a wide range of expertise and advanced care, recent patient feedback indicates potential areas for improvement in administrative processes, communication, and appointment scheduling. Local users should consider these factors alongside the potential benefits of a university-affiliated medical center when making decisions about their heart care.

I've been waiting days now to get an appointment because they're waiting on the nurse to tell them if I need an ultrasound. How many nurses do you have? Just one or something? I think I have a seriously irregular heart rhythm and you guys aren't making the appointment setting very easy for me. I will be contacting other cardiovascular clinics in the morning because this is just ridiculous.
The one time I made it in. Everything went well. They were polite. And efficient. However I recently missed an app due to my error. I had dates mixed up. I've been calling for a month to reschedule but I only get voice-mail. With no return call. I can't answer the phone at work and I start work hours before they open and work 30 minutes after they close. So it would be nice if the appointment person could answer my call
