The Heart Center Introduce
For local residents in Opelika, Alabama, seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me," The Heart Center, located at 121 N 20th St suite 20 b, Opelika, AL 36801, USA, is a cardiology practice providing cardiac care services. They can be contacted at (334) 321-3700 or via mobile at +1 334-321-3700 for appointments and inquiries.
As a part of the "Heart Doctor Near Me" platform category, The Heart Center aims to serve the cardiovascular health needs of the local community. Reviews from patients offer some insights into the environment, services, and features of this practice, although they also highlight areas of concern.
One patient expresses long-term satisfaction with the care provided by Dr. Mitchell and his staff, describing them as "very caring, loving, and knowledgeable." This positive feedback suggests a supportive and competent environment within the practice, particularly concerning the physician and some members of the staff. The patient explicitly thanks God for Dr. Mitchell and his team, indicating a high level of trust and appreciation for the care received over several years.
Another patient provides a more detailed and mixed review. They express strong positive feelings for Dr. Mitchell and a staff member named Mrs. Kelly, acknowledging that "They took care of me!" This suggests that some members of the team are perceived as caring and attentive to patient needs. The reviewer specifically mentions Mrs. Kelly's wonderful care and attentiveness when the patient felt unwell in the office.
However, the same review raises significant concerns about another staff member named Tracy. The patient describes Tracy as "so rude and doesn’t care" and alleges a tendency to attribute symptoms to anxiety, even when objective findings suggested otherwise. The reviewer recounts an experience where Tracy reportedly relied on old lab results, despite the understanding that medical conditions and lab values can change rapidly. The patient claims that Tracy initially dismissed their concerns about blood clots based on an earlier ultrasound that did not show them, despite subsequent confirmations of blood clots in their arm.
This patient also reports feeling rudely treated by the staff during a recent visit, alleging they were not even placed in an examination room. Furthermore, they detail significant fluctuations in their blood work, including low sodium, potassium, calcium, and elevated D-dimer levels, alongside symptoms like blood in their stool and low blood pressure. The reviewer strongly criticizes the assumption that their symptoms were solely due to anxiety, especially given the objective abnormalities in their lab results and physical symptoms.
The patient explicitly states their intention to discuss these negative experiences with Dr. Mitchell during a future appointment. This indicates a belief in Dr. Mitchell's ability to address these issues and a continued trust in his medical expertise, despite the negative interactions with other staff members.
Based on these reviews, the services offered at The Heart Center likely include consultations with a cardiologist (Dr. Mitchell), diagnostic procedures such as ultrasounds and blood work, and potentially EKGs (implied by the discussion of heart rate). The environment seems to be perceived positively by some patients, particularly in their interactions with Dr. Mitchell and certain staff members like Mrs. Kelly, who are described as caring and attentive.
However, a significant feature highlighted by the negative review is a potential issue with certain staff members' communication style and diagnostic approach, particularly the alleged tendency to attribute symptoms to anxiety without thoroughly considering objective medical evidence and the dynamic nature of medical conditions. This raises concerns about the consistency of patient care and the thoroughness of initial assessments by all members of the team.
Promotional information is not provided in the available reviews. Therefore, details about new patient specials, accepted insurance plans, or any unique services offered by The Heart Center are not currently known.
In conclusion, The Heart Center in Opelika, AL, appears to be a cardiology practice where patients have experienced varying levels of satisfaction. Dr. Mitchell is highly regarded for his caring and knowledgeable approach. However, concerns have been raised regarding the demeanor and diagnostic judgment of at least one other staff member. Local users considering The Heart Center as their "Heart Doctor Near Me" should be aware of these mixed reviews and may want to inquire about the team's approach to patient communication and diagnostic protocols when seeking care at this facility. Further research or direct communication with the clinic may be beneficial to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the overall patient experience.

Dr. Mitchell has been taking care of me for years. I thank God for him and his staff. They are so very caring, loving and knowledgeable.
Dr Barry Crowe and the assistant's they saved my life,Dr. Mitchell has always showed great professionalism to me,also David Pate always looking afterme asking me questions always wanting to make sure I'm okay! The whole staff from getting check in and having test done, they ALWAYS act as a TEAM
I waited 2 hours past my appointment time to see Dr Mitchell. He spent 2 minutes in the room with me and kept trying to get up and leave before my questions were answered. Instead of spending the time explaining anything to me he had the receptionist print me off "how to take care of yourself at home" instructions that might as well have come from Wikipedia. Plan to spend your entire day waiting and leave without any answers.
I was having chest pain and dizziness. The staff at the Chest Pain Walk In Clinic was very expedient, knowledgable, and conscientious to my situation and symptoms. I was taken very good care of and they were very comforting. I would recommend The Chest Pain Walk In Clinic to anyone having chest pain or emergent heart related symptoms. It was way better than the local ER.
