When considering a surgeon for critical cardiac care, it is essential to carefully review all available information to make an informed and confident decision.

Specific details about the environment of Dr. Alexander's practice are not provided in the given information. However, a surgeon's office within a clinic setting typically includes consultation rooms where the surgeon meets with patients and their families to discuss surgical options, pre-operative preparations, and post-operative care plans. It is also likely that Dr. Alexander has affiliations with local hospitals where he performs surgical procedures. The focus of such an environment is generally on providing a space for medical consultations and coordinating surgical interventions. Administrative staff would typically be present to manage appointments, handle patient inquiries, and coordinate with the surgical facilities.

As a cardiac surgeon, Philip J. Alexander, MD, would primarily offer services related to surgical treatment of heart conditions. These services typically include:

The provided reviews from individuals who have had direct experience with Philip J. Alexander, MD, present extremely serious concerns regarding the quality of post-operative care, communication with patients and their families, and the timing of patient discharge following surgery. One reviewer recounts the tragic experience of their father's sudden death six weeks after undergoing bypass surgery with Dr. Alexander. The reviewer expresses a profound sense of betrayal, stating that they were "assured my Dad would recover well and his prognosis was good" and that they "feel we were lied to." This reviewer also strongly believes that their father was discharged from the hospital "WAAAAAAAY too soon" and that their concerns were "dismissed" by those entrusted with his care, leading to a feeling of being "robbed." The severity of this experience is underscored by the reviewer's statement that they would give negative stars if possible.

The second review details a deeply distressing experience immediately following the reviewer's husband's surgery in November 2022. The reviewer states that Dr. Alexander left them waiting for eleven hours after the surgery without any communication. The reviewer expresses shock and dismay that the surgeon "never even came in to talk to us" and notes that Dr. Alexander also did not speak with either the reviewer or her husband prior to the surgery. The initial information about the husband being in the ICU was only obtained after the reviewer "chased down" the nurse. This account paints a picture of a severe lack of communication and empathy from the surgeon towards the patient's family during a critical and anxious time.

Based on these direct patient accounts, the features of Philip J. Alexander, MD's practice, as perceived by these reviewers, include a failure to provide adequate post-operative care and monitoring, potentially leading to premature discharge with fatal consequences in one instance. There are also significant concerns about a complete lack of communication with the patient and family, both before and immediately after a major surgical procedure, causing immense distress and a feeling of being dismissed and uninformed. These reviews do not offer any positive feedback and instead highlight critical failures in patient care and communication that have had devastating impacts.

There is no promotional information provided in the text. However, for local users seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me" who specializes in cardiac surgery, the overwhelmingly negative and deeply concerning feedback in these recent reviews must be given the utmost consideration. The allegations of inadequate post-operative care, premature discharge, and a complete lack of communication are extremely serious and should prompt potential patients to exercise extreme caution.

Given the severity of the issues raised, prospective patients are strongly advised to seek second opinions and thoroughly research other cardiac surgeons in the Oak Lawn, IL area. It would be prudent to inquire about other patients' experiences and to seek referrals from trusted medical professionals. The lack of communication and the tragic outcome reported in these reviews suggest a significant potential risk associated with choosing Dr. Alexander for cardiac surgery.

Alexander, MD, including his qualifications, hospital affiliations, and current practices regarding patient communication and post-operative care, individuals may contact his office directly at (708) 346-4040 or his mobile phone at +1 708-346-4040. In conclusion, while Philip J. Alexander, MD, is listed as a potential "Heart Doctor Near Me" specializing in cardiac surgery in Oak Lawn, IL, recent patient reviews present profoundly disturbing accounts of inadequate post-operative care, a tragic patient death following bypass surgery, and a complete lack of communication with patients and their families. my Dad died suddenly, 6 weeks after bypass with Philip Alexander. We were assured my Dad would recover well and his prognosis was good. I feel we were lied to. I feel my Dad was discharged from the hospital WAAAAAAAY too soon. I feel we were dismissed by those we trusted with his life. I feel we were robbed. If I could give negative stars I would.

This doctor left us waiting 11 hours after my husbands surgery in November 2022. He never even came in to talk to us. What kind of surgeon does this? He never talked to my husband or me prior to surgery. My husband was already in ICU before his nurse FINALLY told us after we chased her down. Sad!!
