As a comprehensive healthcare system, NorthShore University HealthSystem likely offers a broad spectrum of services related to cardiovascular health. For individuals seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me," this would include access to board-certified cardiologists who specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of heart and vascular diseases. These services typically encompass initial consultations, thorough medical history reviews, and physical examinations. Cardiologists within NorthShore would also utilize and order various diagnostic tests to assess cardiac function and identify potential issues.
Common diagnostic procedures available through NorthShore's cardiology services might include electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs) to measure the heart's electrical activity, echocardiograms (ultrasounds of the heart) to visualize its structure and function, Holter and event monitors to record heart rhythm over extended periods, stress tests (exercise or pharmacological) to evaluate the heart's response to exertion, cardiac CT scans or MRIs for detailed imaging, and potentially cardiac catheterization for more invasive assessments of the heart and coronary arteries. The specific availability of these tests at the Gurnee location might vary, with some procedures potentially being conducted at other NorthShore facilities within the network.
In terms of treatment, cardiologists at NorthShore University HealthSystem would be involved in developing and managing personalized treatment plans for a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. This could include the management of hypertension (high blood pressure), hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), coronary artery disease (angina and heart attacks), heart failure, arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), valvular heart disease, and peripheral artery disease. Treatment strategies typically involve lifestyle modifications, medication management, and may also include interventional procedures such as angioplasty and stenting, as well as surgical interventions when necessary, often performed at specialized cardiac centers within the NorthShore system.
Preventive cardiology is also a crucial aspect of care within a comprehensive health system like NorthShore. The provided patient reviews offer a mixed perspective on the patient experience at this NorthShore location, specifically concerning laboratory services. One review details several negative experiences with the receptionist and laboratory workers, citing unprofessionalism, rudeness, unhelpfulness, and laziness. Specific examples include raised voices, long wait times despite no other patients, staff being engrossed in phone activities, the need for repeated check-ins, and a failure to properly verify patient identity during lab work. This review strongly discourages others from using the laboratory services at this location.
In contrast, another review offers a positive experience with a different set of staff members within the same facility, specifically in the context of having blood drawn for a child with autism. This reviewer praises the patience and understanding of two women and one male staff member who were able to draw blood without issues, expressing deep gratitude for their help. This positive feedback highlights that experiences can vary within a large healthcare system and may depend on the specific department and staff encountered.
For local users seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me" at the NorthShore University HealthSystem location in Gurnee, these reviews offer a cautionary note regarding the laboratory services but also indicate the potential for compassionate and effective care in other areas. As the reviews do not directly address the cardiology services, prospective patients should focus on researching the qualifications and patient feedback specifically related to the cardiologists practicing at this location or within the NorthShore network. It would be prudent to inquire directly with NorthShore about their cardiology department in Gurnee, the specific cardiologists who see patients there, their specialties, and any patient testimonials or ratings available for their cardiac care services. Contacting the office at (847) 356-3680 or +1 847-356-3680 would be the recommended next step for individuals interested in exploring their cardiac care options at this NorthShore University HealthSystem location in Gurnee.

I am a single mom of two children, ages three and nine. My nine-year-old has autism, and being in public places is very hard for me. I had to bring both children with me when I went to the lab to have blood drawn. The staff two women and one male, was very patient and understanding, and they were able to draw my daughter's blood without any problems. Thank you so much for your help! yall blessed us that day thank you so much
Online says it’s open at 7 so you go early to get in line, doors open, no signs saying opens at 8, so why does it say open online at 7. Typical communication issues with North Shore, this goes for doctors, nurses and secretaries because those three never seem to be on the same page. This goes for the Gurnee and the North Shore on Washington Street and Greenleaf.
We tried getting an appointment this morning and the receptionist (all 3 of them) were rude not helpful and said that we needed to go to another location to see if maybe they would have an opening for us.?… I work in the healthcare industry and was appalled at the lack of support, compassion and professionalism at this location. I’m going to the Round Lake location from now on.
