Medical Group of the Carolinas - Cardiology - Spartanburg Introduce
For residents in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and the surrounding areas seeking specialized heart care, the Medical Group of the Carolinas - Cardiology - Spartanburg, located on Boiling Springs Road, is a local provider listed under the "Heart Doctor Near Me" platform category. This practice is part of a larger medical group, suggesting a potentially broad network of healthcare professionals and resources available to patients seeking cardiovascular services.
While specific details about the environment of the Medical Group of the Carolinas - Cardiology - Spartanburg office are best obtained through direct contact or a visit, it is reasonable to anticipate a medical office setting designed to facilitate patient consultations, examinations, and potentially some diagnostic testing. Medical group offices typically include waiting areas for patients, private examination rooms for confidential discussions with physicians, and administrative areas for scheduling and patient support. The presence of specialized equipment for basic cardiac evaluations, such as electrocardiograms (ECGs), might also be expected on-site.
As a cardiology-focused practice within a larger medical group, the services offered by the Medical Group of the Carolinas - Cardiology - Spartanburg likely center around the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases affecting the heart and blood vessels. This encompasses a range of cardiovascular conditions, including but not limited to coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), valvular heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure), and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol). Patients experiencing cardiac symptoms or those with known heart conditions requiring specialized management would be the primary individuals seeking care at this location.
The services typically provided by a cardiology practice within a medical group setting may include:
- Initial Consultations and Comprehensive Evaluations: Thorough assessments of a patient's medical history, current symptoms, and risk factors for heart disease.
- Physical Examinations: General physical assessments with a focus on cardiovascular health, including blood pressure monitoring and listening to heart sounds.
- Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG): A standard non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of the heart to detect irregularities in rhythm and identify potential heart muscle damage.
- Echocardiogram Referrals: While the test itself might be performed at a larger facility within the medical group network or at an affiliated hospital, the initial referral and interpretation would likely be managed at this office.
- Stress Test Referrals: Similar to echocardiograms, referrals for stress testing (exercise or pharmacological) would likely originate from this office.
- Holter and Event Monitor Management: The application and interpretation of results from these longer-term heart rhythm monitoring devices may be coordinated through this office.
- Medication Management: Prescribing and managing medications to control various cardiovascular conditions and risk factors.
- Lifestyle Counseling and Education: Providing guidance on diet, exercise, smoking cessation, and other lifestyle modifications to improve heart health.
- Referrals to Specialists: For more complex conditions requiring interventional procedures (like angioplasty and stenting) or cardiac surgery, referrals to specialists within the Medical Group of the Carolinas network or at affiliated hospitals would be a key service.
Being part of the Medical Group of the Carolinas suggests several potential features. Patients may benefit from the integrated care model often found in such groups, where different specialists can collaborate on a patient's overall health. Access to a broader network of medical professionals, including interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and vascular specialists within the larger group or at affiliated hospitals, could be a significant advantage for patients requiring more advanced care. The medical group structure might also provide access to shared electronic health records, potentially improving communication and coordination among different providers involved in a patient's care.
However, it is crucial to consider all available information when evaluating a healthcare provider. The provided patient reviews for the Medical Group of the Carolinas - Cardiology - Spartanburg raise significant concerns about the office's administrative and communication practices. Multiple reviewers describe the office as "highly unprofessional and disorganized," with it being "nearly impossible" to reach someone by phone. When contact is made, the representatives are described as "unhelpful" and lacking the necessary knowledge to assist with scheduling. Furthermore, one reviewer noted "inconsistent and, at times, blatantly false" information being provided.
Another detailed review recounts a frustrating experience with scheduling a follow-up appointment for the reviewer's mother, who was referred from the emergency room. The reviewer describes multiple unsuccessful attempts to schedule an appointment due to inconsistent information regarding when referrals are processed and accepted, ultimately leading to the decision to seek care elsewhere at North Grove. This experience highlights significant issues with the office's responsiveness and patient coordination.
A third review offers a more nuanced perspective, stating that "Doctors and nurses in second smaller building are great," but echoing the negative feedback about phone service, noting that it "leaves alot to be desired." This suggests a potential disparity between the quality of direct medical care received from the doctors and nurses and the administrative support provided by the office staff, particularly regarding phone communication.
These reviews collectively paint a picture of an office struggling with administrative efficiency and patient communication. While the quality of the medical care provided by the physicians and nurses may be satisfactory, the difficulties in reaching the office, obtaining accurate information, and scheduling appointments could significantly impact the overall patient experience. Prospective patients should be aware of these potential challenges when considering this practice for their cardiac care needs.

In conclusion, the Medical Group of the Carolinas - Cardiology - Spartanburg, located in Spartanburg, SC, offers cardiology services as part of a larger medical network. While the doctors and nurses may provide quality medical care, the available patient reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the office's unprofessionalism, disorganization, difficulty in reaching staff by phone, inconsistent information, and dismissive receptionists. Prospective patients should weigh these factors carefully when considering this practice for their cardiovascular care needs.

Doctors and nurses in second smaller building are great. Don't try to get any info from them over the phone though. Phone service leaves alot to be desired.
Kacey and her associate were focused on creating an image for cardio-specialists to read data and formulate a prognosis for patient recovery. NO PHOTOS OR OTHER RECORDINGS DURING VISITS.
Everything has gone well. Dr. K does a very good job of explaining what is going on. He's a very good doctor.
Never had a problem with the main office when my mother was seeing Dr. O'Quinn, but now that he has left and she had her first visit at the newer office to see Dr.Virgadamo we had a problem with the front office staff. Her appointment was at 10:15am, she received a text to arrive early which she did and immediately checked in. At 10:45 we're still waiting so I go to find out why. Apparently, according to them, she never checked in. The girl that "checked her in" said that she did not.
