Joseph Ortenberg, MD Introduce

When you're looking for a "Heart Doctor Near Me," it's important to gather a comprehensive understanding of the potential physician and their practice. Joseph Ortenberg, MD, located at 1300 W Terrell Ave Ste 500 in Fort Worth, TX, has been serving patients for a number of years. Reviews from individuals who have interacted with Dr. Ortenberg and his office offer varied perspectives on the care provided.

One detailed review comes from the adult child of an elderly patient who had been under Dr. Ortenberg's care for approximately ten years. This reviewer expresses concern that the long-term relationship may have led to complacency. In August 2023, the patient sought a follow-up due to experiencing pain and underwent testing that reportedly came back 'negative'. Despite ongoing complaints, the patient was told about a potential procedure but that the doctor was "not ready to do so yet."

Subsequently, a new medication was prescribed, but the pharmacy informed the patient on a Saturday that the prescription had been cancelled by the doctor's office. Attempts to contact the cardiologist's office after hours were met with a suggestion to "call back Monday or go to the ER." When the office was called on Monday, a return call wasn't received until Tuesday. The reviewer quotes the office responding to concerns about the medication falling through the cracks with "We have been swamped."

The patient's symptoms persisted, culminating in a public medical emergency that led to hospitalization. Despite initial 'negative' tests at the hospital, the medical team admitted her based on the patient and family's history. The following morning, plans were made for a cath lab procedure. During her hospital stay, the patient had another episode while on monitors, leading to immediate intervention. The hospital cardiologist reportedly stated that if she had continued on her previous course for another week, it could have been fatal. The patient reportedly felt that Dr. Ortenberg was not taking her seriously, and the reviewer emphasizes that her issues were not psychological or vascular. The medication cancellation and the "swamped" excuse from the office staff were also points of significant dissatisfaction for the reviewer, who suggests Dr. Ortenberg should limit his patient load to ensure adequate care and attention.

In contrast, another review presents a more positive experience. This patient noted a very short wait time before the initial preparation for the doctor's visit. Following an ECG, Dr. Ortenberg entered the room shortly thereafter, described as cordial and prepared for the visit. The reviewer expressed satisfaction with Dr. Ortenberg's competence and bedside manner and was accepted as a new patient for cardiac-related problems. This individual offered a recommendation for Dr. Ortenberg.

Our Environment: Mixed Perceptions of Patient Care and Responsiveness

The limited reviews provide a mixed picture of the environment at Dr. Ortenberg's practice. One patient's experience suggests potential issues with communication, follow-up, and the responsiveness of the office staff, particularly regarding medication management and after-hours support. The "swamped" comment implies a potentially busy office environment that may impact the level of individual attention patients receive.

On the other hand, the other reviewer noted a short wait time and a cordial interaction with Dr. Ortenberg, suggesting that some patients experience efficiency and a positive bedside manner.

Dr Ortenberg saved my twin sisters life. He is also keeping an eye on me to prevent me from having a heart attack. My husband had a heart attack one year after my sister. They were both saved and still here today due entirely to this amazing staff.

The check-in procedure was smooth. I was called back before my scheduled appointment time. The medical assistant promptly went through my meds and got my EKG done. Dr. Ortenberg was also very prompt and his exam was thorough. I have no complaints about this visit to Consultants in Cardiology.
