Dr. Bengt Herweg, MD Introduce

For individuals in the Tampa, Florida area seeking a “Heart Doctor Near Me,” Dr. Bengt Herweg, MD, whose office is located at 2 Tampa General Cir, Tampa, FL 33606, USA, is a cardiologist who has received notable, and largely negative, feedback from online patient reviews. To provide local users with a comprehensive and objective perspective, we have compiled the experiences shared by those who have consulted with Dr. Herweg.

Several patients have described interactions with Dr. Herweg that they found to be negative and concerning. One reviewer stated that Dr. Herweg was “definitely the most aggressive and rude guy I've ever met.” This is a strong indictment of his interpersonal skills and bedside manner, suggesting a potentially abrasive and uncomfortable experience for patients seeking cardiac care.

Another patient echoed this sentiment, expressing that they felt “rejected” and as though Dr. Herweg believed they were being “dramatic” about their suffering. This reviewer shared a specific instance where Dr. Herweg reportedly said, “You know there are some people who are worse off than you.” While acknowledging the truth of this statement, the patient felt it dismissed their own significant level of suffering, highlighting a potential lack of empathy and validation in Dr. Herweg's communication style.

One particularly detailed review comes from a patient who initially met Dr. Herweg in the CCU after experiencing seizures that caused their heart to stop. Dr. Herweg proposed a “neurocardioablation” procedure instead of a pacemaker, citing the patient's age as a factor. Initially trusting Dr. Herweg's decision, the patient now describes this as “one of the most regretted decisions I’ve ever made!” Without disclosing private health information, the reviewer urges others to find a doctor who “will actually listen to hear and not listen to bill,” implying a concern that financial incentives may have influenced Dr. Herweg's treatment recommendation.

This same patient further recounts a subsequent appointment where Dr. Herweg was “adamant that he’s ‘cured me,’” despite the patient's experience suggesting otherwise. Dr. Herweg then allegedly discussed writing a medical article about the patient's complex medical history and the surgery he performed, which the patient explicitly states “didn’t even work.” This discrepancy between Dr. Herweg's perception of the outcome and the patient's reality led to a complete loss of trust.

The reviewer strongly advises others to “just find another doctor,” asserting that Dr. Herweg's ego takes over after surgery, and patients are no longer of interest to him if a surgical intervention is not ongoing. The patient concludes by regretting having trusted Dr. Herweg with their care, even though they felt they had limited options at the time.

Another critical review details a harrowing surgical experience where a planned one-hour surgery extended to six hours, with the patient not waking from anesthesia for several hours afterward. The patient's husband allegedly received no updates until the fourth hour of the surgery. Post-procedure, the reviewer claims to have been “lost” by the medical team, preventing their husband from being brought to their bedside during recovery. This account raises serious concerns about communication with family members during critical medical events and post-operative care.

This same patient also highlights a significant contradiction between Dr. Herweg's statements and the findings of a medical study he authored. The patient states that Dr. Herweg wrote in his study that there were no changes associated with the lesion sets made in multiple areas of the patient's heart, yet he told the patient he had been “cured.” This inconsistency further erodes the patient's trust in Dr. Herweg's assessment and communication.

The reviewer summarizes their experience by describing Dr. Herweg as “egotistical,” “condescending,” and someone who “does not listen to understand and treat— just bill.” They also allege that for medically complex patients, Dr. Herweg does not effectively coordinate with other doctors without constant prompting from the patient.

Based on these overwhelmingly negative reviews, it is challenging to ascertain positive aspects of Dr. Herweg's practice environment or typical services. The focus of the feedback is primarily on his perceived demeanor, communication style, and concerns about his treatment motivations and follow-up care.

Given the strong and consistent negative themes in the available patient feedback, local users searching for a “Heart Doctor Near Me” are strongly advised to consider these experiences carefully. While it is important to acknowledge that online reviews represent individual perspectives, the recurring concerns about Dr. Herweg's bedside manner, communication, and perceived focus on billing over patient well-being should prompt cautious consideration.

There is no information available in these reviews regarding any promotional offers or specific positive features of Dr. Herweg's practice. The dominant narrative is one of dissatisfaction and regret from patients who have interacted with him.

For local users in Tampa seeking cardiac care, the provided reviews for Dr. Bengt Herweg, MD, paint a concerning picture. The allegations of rudeness, dismissiveness, poor communication, and a potential prioritization of billing over patient care are serious and warrant careful consideration. While further research and potentially seeking second opinions are always advisable when choosing a healthcare provider, the consistent negative feedback in this case suggests that exploring other options for a “Heart Doctor Near Me” in the Tampa area may be prudent.

Due to the overwhelmingly negative nature of the available feedback, we would not recommend contacting Dr. Herweg's office based solely on this information. Instead, local users are encouraged to seek alternative cardiologists in the Tampa area who have a more positive and reassuring track record of patient experiences. Further research through other online platforms, recommendations from primary care physicians, and consultations with multiple cardiologists can help you find a “Heart Doctor Near Me” who aligns with your healthcare needs and preferences.

Dr. Herweg and his team are the BEST EVER! He is the smartest and most knowledgeable Doctor that I have ever been to. He listened to my issues and symptoms and worked VERY VERY hard to give me the best quality of life I could possibly have. I'm extremely happy to no longer need a wheelchair because of my extensive and complicated heart issues. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone I know. I will forever be thankful I was blessed to have such a incredible man to be my Doctor. ❤️

Dr Herwig is the best Cardiologist I've come across. They call him the "Electrician" as he's the best around for all matters of electrical impulses for the heart. He took care of my father and my brother. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He truly cares about his patients.
