One detailed patient account describes a concerning experience within the Labor and Delivery unit at Ruby Memorial Hospital. This narrative portrays a situation where the patient felt her symptoms were not adequately addressed, leading to a feeling of unsafe care. While this review details a negative personal experience, it is essential to consider that it represents one individual's perspective at a specific time and within a particular department. Conversely, another reviewer shared a positive experience at the Children’s Hospital, highlighting it as a "great experience" for their daughter’s surgery and noting that the journey from Martinsburg was "worth it." This suggests that different departments within the WVU Medicine system may offer varying patient experiences. The presence of specialized centers, such as those focused on cardiac care within Ruby Memorial Hospital and pediatric care at the Children’s Hospital, allows for focused expertise in these areas. The breadth of medical specialties available within one system offers the convenience of coordinated care for patients with complex medical needs. The positive review of the Children’s Hospital underscores their ability to provide excellent surgical care, even for patients traveling from a distance. However, the negative review highlights potential issues in patient communication and the thoroughness of care in certain situations. Overall, a key feature is the comprehensive nature of the medical services provided, although patient experience can vary. To ascertain the specific features relevant to cardiac care at WVU Medicine, further inquiry into their cardiology department would be beneficial.

The children’s hospital was a great experience for my daughter’s surgery. Coming from Martinsburg was a hike but worth the journey. Thanks for fixing my daughter’s umbilical hernia.

The absolute worst care in any hospital I’ve ever been to! I’ve never seen a more uncaring group of people in the ER room!! Worst ever!!

I went to the Orthopedic Neurology and Spine Center. Don't waste your time or let them waste yours. I was on time for my appointment. They put me in a room and let me sit there for an hour. So I called and wanted to know when the NP was coming and they finally came in. I got no where here. I wasn't there for pain meds either.

I had a great experience this time around! My 2 year old daughter had to have surgery on her tethered cord on 10/9/2023 she stayed in the hospital for 2 days! The surgeon and the nurses was fantastic! Their bedside manner was on point.
