One patient review offers high praise for Dr. Smeida, a surgeon within the institute, for an "AMAZING job" in performing a mitral valve replacement. The positive communication from the surgeon post-procedure and the initial positive experience within the building and with ICU staff member Anthony are also highlighted. This serves as strong promotional information regarding the skill of the surgeons and the generally positive patient care experienced within certain units.

However, another part of the same review presents a starkly negative experience on the 6th floor, where the patient was moved for step-down care. The reviewer describes this floor as resembling a "psych unit," with outdated and uncomfortable beds, a sterile and dirty environment, and seemingly inexperienced staff. Concerns are raised about the choice of pain medication (an opioid typically used for cancer/hospice patients), the removal of a catheter despite the patient's inability to ambulate due to the medication, and significant difficulties in ordering food. This detailed negative account serves as a critical point to consider, suggesting potential inconsistencies in the quality of facilities and care across different units within the same institution.

For local users seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me," the Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic offers a wide range of highly specialized services and access to renowned physicians. The positive experiences shared by some patients, particularly regarding surgical outcomes and initial care, underscore the institute's expertise. However, the negative review highlights potential issues with the environment and care on specific units, which should prompt potential patients to inquire about the typical patient flow and step-down care facilities relevant to their specific needs.

Potential patients considering the Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute should:

  • Research the specific physicians within the institute who specialize in their particular condition.
  • Inquire about the typical patient pathway and the facilities associated with each stage of care, including step-down units.
  • Consider asking about pain management protocols and catheter management in postoperative care.
  • Seek additional reviews and information from various sources to gain a broader perspective on patient experiences across different units and services within the institute.

In conclusion, the Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic is a leading center for cardiovascular and thoracic care, offering a wide range of advanced services and expertise. While many patients report positive experiences with skilled surgeons and initial care, the significant concerns raised in one review about a specific step-down unit highlight the importance of thorough research and asking detailed questions about the entire patient care journey. Local users seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me" should weigh the institution's strong reputation and the varying patient experiences to make an informed decision about their healthcare needs.

The nurses displayed an unprofessional level of chatter and insensitivity in their work. There was a significant lack of communication between intensive care and room care, and some addressed patients in a manner more fitting for dogs. While I understand they are in training, they should at least show respect for those who narrowly escaped death only a few hours prior.

Vallet parking is NOT NOT GOOD. IVE been late for my appointments I drive 3 hrs. And go around the circle around 45mins. Not good. Need a better parking procedure. Especially for handicaps. Right now I'm handicapped.
