Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center - Columbia Introduce

For individuals in Columbia, South Carolina, seeking specialized cardiac and vascular care within the "Heart Doctor Near Me" category, Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center - Columbia, located at 3016 Longtown Commons Dr Suite 300, Columbia, SC 29229, USA, presents itself as a potential option. They can be reached at (803) 744-4900 or their mobile number +1 803-744-4900.

Choosing a facility for heart and vascular care is a significant decision, often involving considerations of the environment, the breadth and quality of services offered, unique features of the center, and the experiences of other patients. The available online reviews for Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center - Columbia offer insights into these aspects, presenting a somewhat contrasting view that warrants careful examination.

One patient review expresses profound gratitude and satisfaction with the care received. This individual underwent open-heart surgery in April 2019, with Dr. Currier and Dr. Travis as their surgeons and Dr. Malanuk as their primary cardiologist. They describe the surgical care as "phenomenal," highlighting the consistent presence of both surgeons and their regular doctor, along with Physician Assistants, during their eight-day hospital stay. Furthermore, this reviewer commends the "finest care" received from the nurses in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and during rehabilitation. They also praise the cardiologist office staff for being "extremely empathetic, knowledgeable, and helpful," and express ongoing satisfaction with the attentive care provided by Dr. Malanuk. This positive experience suggests a high standard of surgical and post-operative care, as well as a supportive and efficient administrative team.

In stark contrast, another review details a highly negative experience that did not even involve receiving medical treatment. This individual recounts having to reschedule four appointments due to unforeseen circumstances, including their own surgery and illnesses within their family, during the backdrop of a global pandemic. Subsequently, their final scheduled appointment, made through the MyChart portal, was found to be canceled upon checking on the day of the appointment, with the stated reason being "doctor not available." The reviewer expresses frustration at the lack of proactive communication regarding this cancellation and questions what would have happened had they arrived for the appointment without knowing. They were reportedly told that a scheduler would contact them to reschedule.

However, two weeks passed without any contact. Upon calling back to reschedule, the reviewer was informed by a second staff member that they had been dismissed from the practice due to the multiple reschedulings, and a dismissal letter was yet to be sent. The reviewer expresses disappointment at the lack of a timely phone call to inform them of this policy or to check on their well-being, deeming it a failure of good patient care. Consequently, this individual states they would never refer anyone to the practice and hopes for an improvement in their service standards.

These two reviews present a polarized view of Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center - Columbia. The positive review highlights excellent surgical care, attentive doctors, and a supportive staff, particularly for patients undergoing significant procedures. This suggests a strength in managing complex cardiac cases and providing comprehensive in-hospital care.

Conversely, the negative review points to potential issues with communication, appointment management, and patient relations, particularly when dealing with appointment changes. The dismissal of a patient for rescheduling, without prior communication or consideration of extenuating circumstances, raises concerns about the practice's flexibility and patient-centered approach in administrative matters.

Considering these contrasting perspectives, local users in the "Heart Doctor Near Me" category evaluating Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center - Columbia should consider the following aspects:

Environment: The positive review indirectly suggests a positive and supportive environment within the hospital setting, particularly in the ICU and rehabilitation units, as well as within the cardiologist's office, where staff are described as empathetic and helpful. However, the negative review does not offer insights into the physical environment of the clinic itself.

Services: The name "Heart and Vascular Center" implies a comprehensive range of services related to both cardiology and vascular medicine. This likely includes diagnostic procedures, medical management of heart and vascular conditions, interventional cardiology procedures (such as angioplasty and stenting), and cardiac and vascular surgery, as evidenced by the open-heart surgery mentioned in the positive review. The reference to "Cardiology Nuclear Services" further suggests specialized diagnostic capabilities involving nuclear imaging techniques for cardiac assessment.

Features: A key feature highlighted in the positive review is the collaborative approach of the medical team, with surgeons, the primary cardiologist, and physician assistants all actively involved in the patient's care, including daily visits post-surgery. The empathy and knowledgeability of the office staff are also noted as positive features. However, the negative review points to a potentially rigid policy regarding appointment rescheduling and a lack of proactive and empathetic communication in administrative processes.

Promotional Information: The provided information does not contain any specific promotional details about the center, such as new patient programs, specialized clinics, or recent advancements in technology or treatment approaches. Potential patients would need to seek this information directly from the center's website or through direct inquiry.

In conclusion, Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center - Columbia appears to offer high-quality surgical and in-hospital cardiac care, with a collaborative medical team and supportive staff, as indicated by the positive patient experience. However, the negative review raises concerns about communication and administrative processes related to appointment management. Local users seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me" should consider these contrasting experiences. Those with complex cardiac conditions requiring surgery or extensive in-hospital care may find the positive review reassuring. However, individuals who anticipate potential needs for appointment adjustments may want to inquire specifically about the center's policies on rescheduling and communication to ensure a smooth and patient-centered administrative experience. Further research and potentially a direct consultation could provide a more comprehensive understanding of the center's environment, services, and overall approach to patient care.

The entire staff was nice except the lady at the front desk. She wanted to argue about my insurance since I have two. I guess her cell phone was more important. Since she was on it when I checked in. I guess I interrupted her.
