Kenneth R. Rice, MD, FACC Introduce

For individuals in the Brookline, Massachusetts area seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me," this introduction focuses on Kenneth R. Rice, MD, FACC, practicing at 1180 Beacon St Suite 7C 7th Floor, Brookline, MA 02446, USA. You can contact his office at (617) 232-0270 or his mobile phone at +1 617-232-0270.

Dr. Kenneth R. Rice is a board-certified cardiologist, as indicated by his FACC (Fellow of the American College of Cardiology) designation. This credential signifies that he has met specific qualifications and standards of excellence in the field of cardiology. The provided address suggests a practice located in a medical building in Brookline, likely offering a professional clinical environment for consultations and cardiac assessments.

The available reviews from real customers offer a mixed perspective on Dr. Rice's practice. One long-term patient expresses overall satisfaction, stating they have had "no problem getting an appointment" and acknowledge that while it may sometimes take a couple of calls to get through, this is understandable given that Dr. Rice is a "very busy, well sought after cardiologist." This patient, who travels from south of Boston, explicitly praises Dr. Rice as "excellent" and superior to local cardiologists in their area.

However, another reviewer acknowledges Dr. Rice as a "fine cardiologist" but raises concerns about appointment scheduling and expectation management. This reviewer details two instances of arriving for appointments only to be told that Dr. Rice was unavailable to go over test results on the same day. While they accepted the lack of a patient portal or telehealth link as "not so modern" but "fine," their primary frustration stemmed from the lack of clear communication regarding the same-day results review and significant wait times exceeding an hour for scheduled appointments on both occasions. This reviewer felt that being informed about the doctor's typical policy on reviewing results or potential delays would have been acceptable, but the "inconsideration and the lack of clear and transparent communication" led to a desire to leave the practice, despite acknowledging Dr. Rice's professional competence when present.

Considering these reviews, potential aspects of Dr. Rice's practice for local users seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me" might include:

Environment: The location at 1180 Beacon St Suite 7C suggests a professional office setting within a medical building. Patients can likely expect standard examination rooms and necessary equipment for basic cardiac assessments. The 7th-floor location might offer a degree of privacy. However, specific details about the ambiance, waiting area comfort, or availability of advanced in-office diagnostic equipment are not provided.

Services: As a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Rice likely offers a range of essential cardiology services, which may include:

  • Clinical Cardiology Consultations: Diagnosis and management of various heart conditions.
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG): A standard test to measure the electrical activity of the heart.
  • Echocardiography: Ultrasound imaging of the heart to assess its structure and function (though it's unclear if this is performed in-office or referred out).
  • Stress Testing: Evaluation of the heart's response to exercise or medication (again, location of testing is not specified).
  • Holter and Event Monitoring: Ambulatory cardiac monitoring for detecting irregular heart rhythms.
  • Medication Management: Prescribing and monitoring medications for cardiac conditions.
  • Preventive Cardiology: Assessment of risk factors and counseling on lifestyle modifications to prevent heart disease.
  • Referrals: For more specialized procedures or surgical interventions when necessary.

The reviews do not provide specific details about the breadth of advanced services offered directly within Dr. Rice's office.

Features: Potential features of Dr. Rice's practice, based on the reviews, include:

  • Experience and Expertise: The long-term patient's positive experience and the FACC credential suggest a high level of knowledge and experience in cardiology.
  • Accessibility for Appointments: One patient noted no significant issues in obtaining appointments, which can be a crucial factor for those needing timely cardiac care.
  • High Demand: The comment about Dr. Rice being "very busy" and "well sought after" indicates a potentially high level of trust and reputation within the medical community, although this might also contribute to communication challenges.

Potential Drawbacks Based on Reviews:

  • Communication Issues: The second reviewer highlighted significant concerns regarding the lack of clear and proactive communication, particularly regarding test results and appointment delays.
  • Wait Times: The experience of waiting over an hour past the scheduled appointment time on multiple occasions is a significant concern raised by one reviewer.
  • Lack of Modern Communication Tools: The absence of a patient portal or telehealth options might be a drawback for patients who prefer these methods for accessing information and care.
  • Same-Day Results Review: There appears to be an expectation mismatch regarding whether test results are reviewed with the patient on the same day as testing.

Promotional Information: There is no explicit promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, the long-term patient's strong endorsement, emphasizing Dr. Rice's excellence and accessibility compared to local options south of Boston, could be considered a form of positive word-of-mouth promotion. For individuals in that area facing difficulty accessing timely cardiac care, this perspective might be particularly relevant.

For local users in Brookline, MA, and potentially those in areas south of Boston facing challenges in finding timely cardiac care, Kenneth R. Rice, MD, FACC, offers an experienced and sought-after cardiologist. The positive feedback regarding appointment availability and overall expertise from a long-term patient should be considered. However, prospective patients should also be aware of the communication and wait-time concerns raised by another reviewer. It may be beneficial to inquire directly with the office about their communication protocols, typical wait times, and policies regarding the review of test results to ensure it aligns with their expectations.

To make an informed decision about whether Dr. Rice is the right "Heart Doctor Near Me," local users are encouraged to:

  • Contact the office at (617) 232-0270: Inquire about their appointment scheduling procedures, typical wait times, communication methods for test results, and whether they offer any patient portal or telehealth options.
  • Ask about the range of diagnostic and treatment services offered directly in the office.
  • Verify their insurance acceptance policies.
  • Consider whether the reported communication style and potential for wait times align with their preferences for healthcare interactions.

In conclusion, Kenneth R. Rice, MD, FACC, is presented as an experienced cardiologist in Brookline, MA, who has provided long-term satisfactory care for at least one patient. I've been going to Dr. Rice for years. I've had no problem getting an appointment to see him. There may be times I have to call a couple of times to get through but understand that he's a very busy, well sought after cardiologist. Sadly, it's very difficulty to see a local doctor in my area south of Boston. I've always been able to see a doctor in Boston much quicker and there's no match between a local cardiologist and someone like Dr. Rice. He's excellent!

I can't get any help on the phone. I've been hung up on 3 times. The rest of the time they don't even answer the phone. I've been trying to get 5 medications refilled. Very disgruntled patient!!!
