James H. Mitchell, M.D., FACC Introduce

When searching for a "Heart Doctor Near Me" in the North Kansas City area, it is essential to consider various aspects of a physician's practice, including their thoroughness, communication style, and patient care approach. James H. Mitchell, M.D., FACC, a cardiologist located at 2790 Clay Edwards Dr #520, North Kansas City, MO 64116, USA, is a board-certified cardiologist and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). His practice aims to provide cardiovascular care to the local community.

Information regarding the specific environment of Dr. Mitchell's clinic is not detailed in the provided reviews. However, one review mentions a "very thorough intake as a new patient," which suggests an organized and comprehensive initial assessment process. This could indicate a practice that prioritizes gathering detailed information from new patients to understand their medical history and current concerns. While the physical ambiance is not described, a thorough intake process can contribute to a patient feeling that their medical background is being carefully considered.

As a cardiologist, Dr. Mitchell's practice likely offers a range of services related to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of heart and vascular diseases. Based on the general scope of cardiology and the limited information from the reviews, these services may include:

  • New Patient Comprehensive Evaluations: As indicated by one review noting a "very thorough intake as a new patient," Dr. Mitchell likely conducts detailed initial assessments to understand a new patient's cardiovascular health status, medical history, and current symptoms.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Cardiologists utilize various diagnostic tools to evaluate heart conditions. While not explicitly mentioned, Dr. Mitchell likely orders and interprets tests such as electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG), echocardiograms, stress tests, and potentially other cardiac imaging or monitoring as needed.
  • Management of Cardiovascular Issues: Dr. Mitchell addresses various heart-related health issues. One review mentions that the "Doctor addressed my health issues," indicating that he provides treatment and management for diagnosed conditions. The specifics of these health issues are not detailed.
  • Medication and Treatment Implementation: The same review notes that Dr. Mitchell "explained why new medications and test was implemented," suggesting that he prescribes medications and orders tests as part of his treatment plans. This implies a proactive approach to managing patient conditions through pharmaceutical interventions and diagnostic procedures.
  • Follow-up Care: As indicated by one patient being told to return for a follow-up in six months, Dr. Mitchell provides ongoing care and monitoring for his patients. The nature and frequency of follow-up appointments likely depend on the individual patient's condition and treatment plan.

The provided patient reviews offer contrasting perspectives on Dr. Mitchell's practice. One patient expresses strong dissatisfaction with their experience, recounting a situation where their concerns about recurring chest pain were allegedly dismissed despite a history of significant coronary artery disease requiring multiple stents. This patient felt that Dr. Mitchell did not adequately listen to their symptoms and was too quick to dismiss their concerns based on initial test results. The review emphasizes the importance of a physician taking the time to listen to patients and prioritize the quality of care over the quantity of patients seen.

Conversely, another patient reports a "very thorough intake as a new patient" and expresses being "very pleased with Dr. Mitchell." This positive feedback highlights a different aspect of Dr. Mitchell's practice, suggesting that he can be thorough in his initial assessments and effectively address patients' health issues by explaining the rationale behind new medications and tests. This contrasting feedback indicates that individual patient experiences may vary.

A crucial aspect highlighted by the negative review is the importance of active listening in patient care. The patient felt their concerns were not adequately heard, which ultimately led to a delay in the diagnosis and treatment of a significant coronary artery blockage. This underscores the significance of a physician thoroughly considering a patient's history, symptoms, and concerns, even when initial test results appear normal.

The positive review, on the other hand, emphasizes thoroughness during the initial intake and clear communication regarding treatment plans. This suggests that when Dr. Mitchell takes the time for a comprehensive assessment and explanation, patients can feel satisfied with their care. However, the stark contrast between the two reviews indicates a potential inconsistency in patient experience, particularly concerning listening skills and the thoroughness of assessment beyond initial testing.

Currently, there is no information available in the provided reviews regarding any specific promotional offers or new patient specials at Dr. Mitchell's practice. Individuals interested in learning about such information should contact the office directly.

For local users searching for a "Heart Doctor Near Me," the reviews for James H. Mitchell, M.D., FACC, present a mixed picture. While one patient experienced a thorough initial intake and felt pleased with the explanations provided, another patient felt their concerns were dismissed due to a perceived lack of listening and a rush to move on. This highlights the importance of considering individual patient experiences when making healthcare decisions. Potential patients may want to inquire about Dr. Mitchell's approach to patient communication and how he ensures that all concerns are thoroughly addressed. It is recommended to contact his office at (816) 221-6750 or +1 816-221-6750 to gather more information and determine if his practice aligns with their individual healthcare needs and preferences. When choosing a heart doctor, it is essential to find a physician who not only possesses the necessary medical expertise but also prioritizes active listening and thorough consideration of individual patient concerns to ensure the highest quality of care.

I really like Dr. Mitchell. He always asks questions & listens to my answers. If I have questions he always answers them. With some of my answers or questions that seem unrelated, he has seemed concerned & had testing done that found something that needed to be addressed. It can sometimes be hard to make an appt with him, but I also feel that is a good sign of a great doctor.
