Duke Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Croasdaile Introduce
For individuals in Durham, North Carolina, and the surrounding region seeking comprehensive rehabilitation services for both heart and lung conditions, Duke Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Croasdaile, located at 1821 Hillandale Rd #25B, Durham, NC 27705, offers a dedicated facility within the broader context of the 'Heart Doctor Near Me' category. While not a doctor's office in the traditional sense, this center provides crucial supportive services prescribed and overseen by cardiologists and pulmonologists to aid in recovery and improve the quality of life for patients with cardiovascular and respiratory ailments.
Based on the limited but insightful patient reviews available online, the environment at Duke Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Croasdaile appears to have both positive and negative aspects. One patient described the front desk staff as "so welcoming and friendly to everyone who came in," highlighting a positive initial impression and a welcoming atmosphere for patients attending their appointments. This suggests an effort to create a supportive and encouraging environment for individuals undergoing rehabilitation.
However, another review presents a contrasting experience with two specific front desk staff members. This account details instances of perceived rudeness, lack of clear communication, and unprofessional behavior towards a patient's spouse who was accompanying them. The reviewer noted being "screamed at" and treated dismissively in the lobby area. While this negative experience seems isolated to specific personnel at a particular time, it's important to acknowledge this feedback as it impacts the overall perception of the facility's environment and patient experience. It is worth noting that the reviewer did not fault the quality of the rehabilitation program itself or the staff within the gym area, who were described as "quality people" who "care."
Duke Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Croasdaile offers a range of specialized services tailored to the needs of individuals recovering from or managing heart and lung conditions. These services, typically prescribed by a physician, aim to improve exercise tolerance, reduce symptoms, enhance overall well-being, and educate patients on how to manage their conditions effectively. Based on the name and the context of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, the services likely include:
- Supervised Exercise Programs: Tailored exercise regimens designed to improve cardiovascular endurance and lung function, closely monitored by trained professionals. This may include activities like walking, cycling, and strength training, adjusted to each patient's individual capabilities and limitations.
- Patient Education: Comprehensive educational sessions covering topics such as heart-healthy living, medication management, recognizing symptoms, energy conservation techniques, and stress management. This empowers patients to take an active role in their long-term health.
- Nutritional Counseling: Guidance from registered dietitians on adopting heart-healthy and lung-healthy eating habits to support overall well-being and manage specific conditions.
- Psychological Support: Addressing the emotional and psychological impact of chronic illness through counseling and support groups, helping patients cope with anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges.
- Breathing Techniques and Respiratory Therapy: For pulmonary rehabilitation patients, instruction in proper breathing techniques, airway clearance strategies, and the use of respiratory equipment.
- Individualized Treatment Plans: Each patient likely undergoes a thorough assessment to develop a personalized rehabilitation plan that addresses their specific needs, goals, and medical history.
- Progress Monitoring and Assessment: Regular evaluations to track progress, adjust the treatment plan as needed, and ensure patients are achieving their rehabilitation goals safely and effectively.
The features of Duke Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Croasdaile can be gleaned from both the positive and negative aspects of the reviews, as well as the general principles of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation:
- Knowledgeable and Encouraging Therapists: The positive review highlights a physical therapist (Claire) who was described as "very knowledgeable and encouraging," suggesting a high level of expertise and a supportive approach from the therapy staff.
- Welcoming Front Desk Staff (in some instances): The initial positive experience with the front desk indicates the potential for a friendly and welcoming reception for patients.
- Comprehensive Rehabilitation Programs: As a Duke facility, it is expected to offer well-structured and evidence-based programs designed to address both cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
- Focus on Progress and Optimism: The patient expressing excitement to continue sessions and optimism for progress suggests that the program instills hope and a sense of forward movement.
- Potential for Unprofessional Front Desk Interactions (in some instances): The negative review raises concerns about the interpersonal skills and communication of at least two front desk staff members.
- Dedicated Gym Area Staff: The reviewer who had a negative experience at the front desk specifically praised the staff in the gym area as "quality people" who "care," indicating a positive and supportive environment within the rehabilitation setting itself.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Duke Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Croasdaile based on the provided text. Rehabilitation services are typically prescribed by a physician as part of a patient's recovery or management plan, rather than being offered through general promotions. For information on any potential specific programs, introductory offers, or community outreach initiatives, it would be best to contact the facility directly at (919) 660-6628.
For individuals in the Durham area who have been recommended for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation by their healthcare providers, Duke at Croasdaile offers a facility with the potential for knowledgeable and encouraging therapy staff. The positive initial experience reported by one patient suggests a welcoming environment, particularly with the therapy team. However, it is important for potential patients to be aware of the reported negative experience with certain front desk staff members, as this aspect of patient interaction could impact the overall experience. The core function of the center, providing supervised exercise and education for heart and lung conditions, appears to be well-regarded by at least one reviewer who specifically praised the gym area staff.
In conclusion, Duke Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Croasdaile provides essential services for individuals recovering from or managing heart and lung conditions in Durham, NC. While one patient reported a positive experience with welcoming front desk staff and knowledgeable therapists, another account detailed unprofessional behavior from two specific front desk personnel. Importantly, the quality of the rehabilitation program itself and the staff within the gym area were praised. Potential patients may find the therapy services beneficial but should be aware of the mixed feedback regarding the administrative front desk experience. Direct communication with the facility is recommended to gather further information about the program and address any concerns regarding patient interactions.

I had my first appointment at Duke Cardiopulmonary Rehab today and was beyond pleased with my experience. The front desk staff were so welcoming and friendly to everyone who came in. I had my first session with Claire (PT) who was very knowledgeable and encouraging. I am excited to continue with my sessions and optimistic of progress!
I took a client to the clinic for therapy. The personality of the staff at the front desk was not unpleasant but not welcoming either. There were no pleasantries. There was no greeting of “Good morning….How I help you?”. They really need to work on making people feel welcome. Patients are already dealing with enough. It costs nothing to smile and say a kind word!
I was released from the VA hospital in Durham NC and sent here. It was the best recovery I could have experienced. I had a total left hip replacement. Everyone greatly appreciated me. I wish I could live there. 5 stars. And the food is great.
I recently spent time on life support and was hospitalized for more than 2 weeks. I came home and did PT here! In 5 visits I was performing like an athlete! Trainers are kind and highly qualified.
