Clyde A. Smith Heart & Vascular Center Introduce
For residents of Winchester, Virginia, and the surrounding communities seeking specialized medical care for heart and vascular conditions, the Clyde A. Smith Heart & Vascular Center, located at 1880 Amherst St, Winchester, VA 22601, aims to serve as a local resource for a "Heart Doctor Near Me" and comprehensive cardiovascular services. As a dedicated center, it likely focuses on providing a range of diagnostic, treatment, and management options for various cardiac and vascular diseases.
The environment of the Clyde A. Smith Heart & Vascular Center is expected to be that of a modern medical facility. As a center specializing in heart and vascular care, it would likely house various departments and units dedicated to different aspects of cardiovascular health. Patients can anticipate areas for outpatient consultations, non-invasive diagnostic testing (such as ECGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests), advanced imaging facilities, and potentially interventional cardiology and vascular surgery suites. For patients requiring more intensive care, the center would also include inpatient rooms and potentially a cardiac intensive care unit (CICU). The overall environment would be designed to support efficient medical care delivery, patient comfort, and adherence to strict hygiene and safety standards.
The Clyde A. Smith Heart & Vascular Center likely offers a comprehensive range of services focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of both cardiac and vascular conditions. These services typically include:
- Cardiology Services:
- Clinical Cardiology Consultations: Thorough evaluations for patients with various heart conditions or risk factors.
- Non-invasive Cardiac Diagnostics: Including Electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG), Echocardiography, Stress Testing (exercise and pharmacological), Holter and Event Monitoring.
- Invasive Cardiac Procedures: Such as cardiac catheterization, coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) including angioplasty and stenting.
- Electrophysiology Services: Diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, including pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, and cardiac ablation.
- Heart Failure Management: Specialized care for patients with congestive heart failure.
- Preventive Cardiology: Programs and counseling focused on reducing the risk of developing heart disease.
- Cardiac Rehabilitation: Supervised exercise and education programs for patients recovering from cardiac events or procedures.
- Vascular Services:
- Vascular Consultations: Evaluation and management of conditions affecting blood vessels.
- Non-invasive Vascular Diagnostics: Including ultrasound imaging of arteries and veins.
- Vascular Interventional Procedures: Such as angioplasty and stenting of peripheral arteries, treatment of varicose veins, and management of deep vein thrombosis.
- Vascular Surgery: Surgical interventions for complex vascular conditions.
- Emergency Cardiac Care: Likely equipped to handle acute cardiac events such as heart attacks.
As a dedicated heart and vascular center, key features would likely include a team of specialized physicians, including cardiologists (general and sub-specialized in areas like interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and heart failure) and vascular surgeons. The center would also rely on a skilled nursing and support staff trained in cardiovascular and vascular care. Access to advanced medical technology and equipment for diagnosis and treatment is also a crucial feature of such a facility. Being a specialized center suggests a focus on providing a high level of expertise and comprehensive care within these specific medical domains.
However, it is important to consider the recent patient reviews to gain a balanced perspective. One review describes a "nightmare" experience involving the alleged administration of wrong medication leading to kidney issues, a prolonged emergency room wait time, and a significant delay in hospital admission. The reviewer also mentions unsuccessful attempts to contact the heart failure clinic. This review raises serious concerns about patient safety, emergency care efficiency, and communication within the center.
Another review expresses frustration regarding visitor restrictions for a clearly distressed patient and suggests a lack of empathy from the staff towards individuals with anxieties related to hospitals or needles. This feedback points to potential issues with patient care and bedside manner in certain situations.
Currently, there is no promotional information available online for the Clyde A. Smith Heart & Vascular Center. In the absence of such information, prospective patients should consider the services offered and the recent patient experiences shared online. The negative reviews highlight potential areas of concern regarding emergency care, communication, and patient support. While the center likely aims to provide specialized cardiac and vascular care, these reviews suggest that there may be areas needing improvement in terms of patient experience and operational efficiency.
Individuals seeking cardiac or vascular care at the Clyde A. Smith Heart & Vascular Center are advised to contact the center directly at (540) 536-8000 or +1 540-536-8000 to inquire about specific services, physician specialties, appointment procedures, and insurance information. It may also be beneficial to seek additional information or recent feedback from other sources to make an informed decision about their healthcare needs. While the center is positioned to offer specialized care as a "Heart Doctor Near Me," the recent negative reviews warrant careful consideration.
In conclusion, the Clyde A. Smith Heart & Vascular Center in Winchester, VA, located at 1880 Amherst St, is intended to provide specialized cardiac and vascular services to the local community. While it likely offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and treatment options and features a team of specialists, recent patient reviews have raised significant concerns regarding emergency care experiences, communication, and aspects of patient care. Local users seeking a "Heart Doctor Near Me" should consider this feedback alongside the potential benefits of a specialized heart and vascular center and are encouraged to contact the facility directly for more information.

It's been a nightmare. They gave my wife the wrong fluiid medication an it affected her kidneys. I took her to the emergency room, sit in the waiting room over 9 hours finally got to see a doctor 2 hours later, then they admitted her 7 hours later that place is a joke. I called the heart. Failure clinic twice but no one ever returned my calls
Hopefully this is the right spot for this review. I really don't understand the problem with one person going back with someone who is clearly upset. If you don't like hospitals or needles they could be a little more caring!! Do better fix this problem!!
It was one experience that the hospitals in md dont have and that is a common care for the people and from my point was very delightful. They let us know when and what they were doing. They made sure that I didnt sit there all day waiting for someone to tell me something. VH CARES
Had a procedure done and it was pleasant and quick
