Lawrence + Memorial Hospital Introduce
For individuals in New London, Connecticut, and the surrounding areas seeking a hospital that may offer cardiac services under the "Heart Doctor Near Me" platform category, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, located at 365 Montauk Ave, New London, CT 06320, USA, is a local healthcare facility to consider. While the platform focuses on connecting users with heart doctors, understanding the broader hospital environment and patient experiences can be crucial when making decisions about where to receive medical care, including cardiac procedures and follow-up.
Lawrence + Memorial Hospital is a general hospital that likely houses various departments and medical specialties, including cardiology. Within a hospital setting, cardiac care typically involves a team of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who work together to diagnose and treat heart conditions. The environment of a hospital cardiac unit or department is designed to support both routine and emergency cardiac care, often including specialized equipment for diagnostics, procedures, and patient monitoring.
The provided reviews from real customers offer a glimpse into the experiences of individuals at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. It is important to note that these reviews provide subjective accounts and may not represent the experience of every patient. However, they offer valuable feedback on aspects such as staff interactions, responsiveness, and the overall comfort of the facilities.
One patient shared a mixed experience, expressing positive feedback about the staff and the doctor but a negative experience with one particular nurse during the preparation for a procedure. The patient recounted informing the nurse about their "rolling veins" and the likelihood of an IV in the hand failing, especially given their history of numerous surgeries. Despite this explicit communication, the nurse proceeded with the hand IV, which subsequently blew, causing significant pain, swelling, and bruising. This incident raises concerns about the importance of heeding patient input and the potential for negative experiences even when other aspects of care are perceived positively. The patient concluded by noting that everyone else was "amazing" and the procedure went well, suggesting that the issue might have been isolated to this specific interaction.
In contrast, another review presents a more broadly negative experience at L&M, describing the nurses as "very rude" and the doctors as unresponsive to questions and lacking in providing necessary information. This feedback raises significant concerns about communication and patient-centeredness, which are crucial aspects of quality healthcare, especially when patients are trying to understand their medical situation or the condition of a loved one. The reviewer also highlighted a concerning situation where nurses were allegedly inattentive to a grandfather's requests for aid, suggesting potential issues with responsiveness and patient monitoring. Furthermore, the reviewer described the rooms as "extremely small and uncomfortable" and strongly recommended against bringing loved ones to the hospital. This paints a picture of a potentially challenging environment for both patients and their families.
Based on these limited reviews, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive overview of the typical environment, the full range of cardiac services offered, or the consistent features of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. However, we can glean some potential insights:
- Variable Nursing Care: Experiences with nurses appear to be inconsistent, with one review highlighting a negative interaction regarding IV placement and another describing nurses as rude and inattentive.
- Positive Doctor Interactions (in one case): One reviewer specifically praised the doctor, suggesting that the quality of physician care may be a strength.
- Potential Communication Issues with Doctors: Another review indicated that doctors may not consistently answer questions or provide necessary information.
- Concerns about Responsiveness: Allegations of delayed response to patient calls raise concerns about the level of immediate care provided.
- Uncomfortable Facilities: One reviewer described the rooms as small and uncomfortable, which could impact patient well-being during their stay.
- Mixed Overall Experiences: The two available reviews present contrasting perspectives, suggesting that patient experiences can vary significantly.
Given the mixed and, in part, negative feedback, it is challenging to highlight specific positive features or any promotional information for Lawrence + Memorial Hospital within the context of the "Heart Doctor Near Me" platform. For local users seeking cardiac care, these reviews underscore the importance of considering various factors beyond just the presence of a hospital in their vicinity.
When choosing a facility for heart care, factors such as the reputation of the cardiology department, the experience and qualifications of the cardiac physicians, the availability of specialized cardiac procedures (e.g., cardiac catheterization, surgery), the quality of nursing care in the cardiac units, and patient satisfaction are all important considerations. The limited information available here does not provide sufficient detail on these specific aspects of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital's cardiac services.
For local users in New London, CT, who are exploring options for heart doctors and cardiac care through the "Heart Doctor Near Me" platform, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital is a local facility that may offer these services. However, the available patient feedback suggests potential areas of concern regarding nursing care, communication, responsiveness, and the comfort of the facilities. It is recommended that individuals seeking cardiac care at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital or considering it as a potential option should seek further information and potentially speak with their primary care physician or other healthcare professionals for guidance.
To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the cardiac services at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, prospective patients may want to inquire about the specific cardiology departments and physicians, the types of cardiac procedures performed, patient satisfaction rates within the cardiac units, and any accreditations or recognitions the hospital has received for its cardiac care. Contacting the hospital directly at (860) 442-0711 may provide some of this information, but it is also advisable to seek out additional reviews and perspectives from other sources to form a well-rounded opinion. Ultimately, choosing the right place for heart care is a critical decision that should be made based on a thorough evaluation of all available information.

L&M is terrible. The nurses are very rude, the doctors don’t answer questions. They also don’t give you information that you need when you are trying to understand what is going on. My grandfather was pressing his button to get the nurses to come aid him and they weren’t coming. My mother went out and they were just laughing together - not being attentive at all. The rooms are extremely small and uncomfortable. DO NOT RECOMMEND BRINGING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE.
Visit to ER today. Nursing staff and support staff wonderful. However, the ER physician Dr M., should be ashamed of himself. He literally spent less than a minute in the room saying “you’re young and healthy, your EKG is fine so you’re being discharged. “ He did not ask about a medical history or complete an evaluation. Didn’t even have a stethoscope on him, so obviously did not even think to do an evaluation. Can’t wait for this bill for Zero care!!!!
