Patient reviews offer mixed but informative perspectives on the environment and services at this location. One reviewer enthusiastically praises the "amazing" people who work there and the "fantastic" rehab program, indicating a positive experience with the staff and the structured rehabilitation services. Another reviewer specifically commends the echocardiogram experience, highlighting the kindness and patience of the echo technician who took the time to explain the procedure and ensure patient comfort. This suggests a patient-focused approach within the diagnostic services.
However, a significant concern is raised by a patient regarding the lack of smoking policies in the parking lot, which is designated for individuals with cardiovascular and pulmonary appointments. This reviewer details repeated negative experiences with individuals smoking in adjacent cars, leading to respiratory distress and hindering the effectiveness of their nebulizer treatments before entering rehab. The lack of designated smoking areas or enforcement of no-smoking policies in this specific parking area is a notable environmental factor raised by a user with relevant health sensitivities. This feedback suggests an area for potential improvement in ensuring a healthier environment for all patients, particularly those with respiratory or cardiac vulnerabilities.
As the Cardiology department of the PeaceHealth Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute, the services offered would encompass a broad spectrum of cardiac care, likely including:
- Diagnostic Cardiology: This includes a variety of tests to assess heart function and identify cardiac conditions, such as Electrocardiograms (EKGs), Echocardiograms (ultrasounds of the heart), Holter and event monitoring for heart rhythm abnormalities, and stress tests to evaluate the heart's response to exercise. The positive review of the echo technician suggests a high standard within this area.
- Interventional Cardiology: This involves minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat heart conditions. These may include cardiac catheterization, angiography to visualize blood vessels, angioplasty and stenting to open blocked arteries, and procedures to treat structural heart disease.
- Clinical Cardiology: This focuses on the medical management of various heart conditions, such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. This involves medication management, lifestyle recommendations, and ongoing monitoring.
- Cardiac Rehabilitation: As highlighted in one of the positive reviews, the institute offers a cardiac rehabilitation program. This multidisciplinary program typically includes supervised exercise, education on heart-healthy living, nutritional counseling, and emotional support to help patients recover from cardiac events or manage chronic heart conditions. The positive feedback suggests this is a strong and beneficial aspect of their services.
- Electrophysiology: This subspecialty focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. Services may include electrophysiology studies, catheter ablation, and the implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators.
- Preventive Cardiology: This involves assessing risk factors for heart disease and implementing strategies to prevent its development or progression through lifestyle modifications, medication, and risk factor management.
A key feature of being part of the PeaceHealth system is the integration of care across different specialties and the adherence to a recognized standard of quality. The Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute likely benefits from PeaceHealth's commitment to patient safety, advanced medical technologies, and a team of experienced healthcare professionals. For individuals seeking cardiac rehabilitation or those who value a supportive and helpful healthcare team, the Cardiology department at PeaceHealth Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute appears to be a positive option. However, the concern raised about smoking in the parking lot is a crucial piece of information for patients with respiratory or cardiovascular sensitivities to consider.

I had an excellent experience getting an echocardiogram here. The echo technician was one of the kindest, most patient medical providers I've met. He spent time explaining to me what was happening and what I was looking at and took care to make sure I was comfortable at all times. I have to assume everyone giving negative reviews walked in with a negative attitude and unreasonable expectations.
Cardiology staff have always been friendly and professional in my 15 year experience. I have been there twice for myself but mostly took my mom to her appointments. Dr. Kawata is particularly awesome and always treated my mom with care and kindness.
This clinic is top tier! The clinic has saved my husband's life more than once, and I am eternally grateful. It may be my turn next, I need an appointment for an echocardiogram! Making an appointment for that now.
